The Best Perinatal and Holistic Providers in Loudoun County
One of the coolest parts about my job is connecting with others in the community. It is one of the most liberating feelings to know that when I refer my patients to another provider, they are guaranteed to receive patient-centered care. This is one of my top priorities when seeking out other providers to collaborate with.
And because I feel like it needs to be said over and over again, you are always your own best advocate. If you don't feel seen, heard of understood by a provider even after speaking up, find someone new. You are hiring them for their services and you ALWAYS have the final say in the treatment that you receive.
With that, let me remind you of some of my favorite resources in Loudoun County. I am still in the process of building my resource list for Rockingham County so for those who live in Harrisonburg and the surrounding area, hang tight!

Dentist: The entire team at Friends and Family Dentistry. I know many in my community are in search of holistic dentists. While Dr. Vu isn't specifically a holistic dentist, I find him to be very holistic in his approach to our care. He is the only Dentist at Friends and Family so you get intimate one on one care at each visit. He is the most calm and laid back provider and always provides you with all of your options. He never incorporates fear into his approach and I always have the ability to (without pressure) deny fluoride and X-rays. I bring my kids to Dr. Vu and they love it. It's not your fancy souped-up Pediatric dentist office, but you will by far receive the best care for your kids. I find that the fancy Pediatric offices tend to be more pushy with number of visits and procedures, etc (likely to pay for the expensive overhead with all of their flashy gadgets).
I'll give you a couple of examples from my experiences with Dr. Vu and his hygienists (who are the MOST gentle. I have very sensitive gums and have required numbing agents for cleaning at all other dentist offices but have never needed it at Friends and Family). Who knew I could get so excited about a dentist! ha!
I was experiencing pain in my upper back tooth and my previous dentists had always looked for a crack in the tooth and never found anything. Dr. Vu mentioned that it was likely my wisdom tooth (that I still had) that was an issue. We did imaging to see and sure enough, my wisdom tooth was coming in at an angle and pressing into my other tooth causing pain. Other dentists would have likely told me to get my wisdom teeth out right away for fear of varying complications. Dr. Vu calmly explained that my pain was likely due to the wisdom tooth and if the pain wasn't too cumbersome, I could continue on with things and address the wisdom tooth at a later time (if necessary) or he told me I could go ahead and get it removed. He presented all of my options, the pros, cons and then said, "it's entirely up to you".
Another example of one of my many positive experiences at Friends and Family is when I asked Dr. Vu when I should start bringing Hannah in for care. He said that he typically recommends kids come in when they are comfortable sitting in a chair and having someone work in their mouth. He said that unless you see something going on, kids' teeth are quite resilient and don't need a ton of attention in the first couple of years. This was very different from my experience with a flashy Pediatric Dentist in Arlington where they recommended I bring James in when he cut his first tooth and then every 6 months thereafter.
I appreciate the honesty and autonomy that they provide to their patients. If you're in search of a Dentist for yourself or your children in Loudoun County, I 10/10 recommend! And no, I was in no way incentivized to ramble on about my favorite Dentist's office :)
Alright, that should get everyone started. I have many more resources, so as always, reach out if you are looking for something in particular!
